Berries (Jamun) fruits are beneficial : Due to being a seasonal fruit, Berries (jamun) is seen being sold at many squares these days. Apart from Jamun(berries), it is also known as Jambul, Black Plum, Java Plum, Jambolan. This fruit is very much liked due to its dark color and sour-sweet taste. This fruit is full of many ayurvedic properties and vitamins. Jamun is a good source of Vitamin-A and Vitamin-C which are very beneficial for eye and skin health. It is also used to brighten the skin and eliminate acne from the root.

Dr. Sanjay Shukla, co-professor of Government Ayurvedic College, Raipur, said that the fruit of Jamun (berries) is 70 percent edible. Glucose and fructose are the two main sources of it. The number of minerals in the fruit is high. It provides fewer calories as compared to other fruits. One medium sized jamun gives 3-4 calories. Its seeds are rich in carbohydrates, proteins and calcium. It is a great source of iron. Jamun contains one to two milligrams of iron per 100 grams. It also contains B vitamins, carotene, magnesium and fiber.

Berries (Jamun) has been touted as an elixir for people suffering from diarrhoea, menorrhagia (excessive bleeding), nausea and vomiting, along with the treatment of diabetes, anemia, stomach problems, liver and stone diseases. These unique properties of it also make it beneficial for heart health. Dr. Shukla informed that not only the fruit of Berries (Jamun), but its seeds, bark and leaves are used for the treatment of various serious diseases. Jamun is the richest source of antioxidants. Also, it contains flavonoids which are beneficial for the health of the whole body.

Berries (Jamun) has many medicinal properties, which is effective in removing many problems of the body. Like jamun, the bark of jamun is also beneficial for health. Many essential elements such as fiber, carbohydrates, potassium, iron and vitamins are found in it. Berries (Jamun) bark is used in many Ayurvedic medicines. Especially diabetic patients are advised to consume jamun bark. Often diabetics are advised to eat the powder of Jamun kernels. In Ayurveda, consumption of Jamun bark can also be advised to control sugar. Like the kernels of jamun, it also has the property of controlling blood-sugar, which is effective in controlling the problems of diabetes.

Berries (Jamun) bark can be used to relieve pain, soreness and burning in the throat. For this, boil the bark of jamun in a cup of water. Now rinse regularly morning and evening with this water. It provides relief from sore throat and sore throat. According to Ayurveda, jamun fruit should be avoided on an empty stomach. Apart from this, milk should also be avoided for at least one hour after eating this fruit. Failure to do so may result in health problems instead of benefits.
