Bastar Dussehra 2022 : Since the time of the royal families, the world-famous Dussehra festival in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, has had the unusual tradition of inviting the gods of the Bastar division to take part. The government tehsil office is invited to the temples of the roughly 350 deities of the Bastar division, and the government protocol is strictly followed to call the gods. This type of tradition is unique to Bastar throughout the entire nation.
After the simple celebration of the world famous Bastar Dussehra festival due to Corona crisis for the last two years, there is a possibility of gathering of devotees due to normalization of the situation this year.

Tradition of Bastar Dussehra
With Kachhandevi’s approval, the famous Bastar Dussehra, which has been celebrated for 610 years, began. The procedure for receiving approval to begin the Dussehra festival is quite unusual. In this, Kachan Devi is mounted by a kuwari kanya. The girl is the one who completes the Kachan Gadi ritual and gives the Bastar Raj family the order to begin Bastar Dussehra. This time, a 6-year-old girl named Pihu allowed the start of Dussehra by calming in a swing made of nettles from vines.

Beginning 75 days ago was the historic and renowned Bastar Dussehra 2022. In Jagdalpur Bastar, Dussehra began on Hareli Amavas with Pat Jatra Puja Vidhi this year as it does every year. The first ritual in this has finished the Patjatra law. The first wood used in the construction of the chariot, which revolves for seven days, is referred to as Thurlu Khotla and Tika Pata during Bastar Dussehra.
In front of the Danteshwari temple in Jagdalpur, the first piece of wood for the chariots that will be built for Bastar Dussehra has been transported from the village of Bilauri. The villagers and craftsmen who built the chariot completed the Pat Jatra rituals with the rituals of Puja Vidhi and goat sacrifice in front of public representatives and members of the people’s representatives.

The city of Jagdalpur has continuously celebrated Bastar Dussehra since 1408 AD with great fervour and pomp. Bastar Dussehra is observed by thousands of tribal people from all over Bastar, as well as international tourists. Seventy-five days before the Pat Jatra, the ritual for this festival begins. Dussehra involves the pulling of a two-story chariot. With the departure of Mavli Mata’s doli, the Bastar Dussehra festival comes to an end after 75 days.
